RIDE THE SLIDE
A Room You Can Ride.
Bring the excitement of Lexus' groundbreaking and innovative Slide hoverboard to the public.
Get the blood pumping via an immersive experience to hype the release of the new Nike Mercurial Superfly And Vapour 360 football boots.
The Hoverboard and skatepark were real... once. They existed for a heartbeat in Barcelona, and we thought it was a shame no one else got the thrill of that experience. Let's create a ride that gets folks out there!
The Lexus Hoverboard 'Ride The Slide' is a full surround real-time videogame where the user navigates a skatepark by "riding" a hacked pressure-sensitive controller. Going beyond, we created an "automagical" film pipeline that shot, edited, colored, and published user films from within the experience, delivering social media ready assets for every rider within minutes.
The visuals for the hyperreal skate park and surrounds were crafted in Epic Games' Unreal Engine, and custom software was written by The Mill to distribute synchronized content across all 18 HD screens in the video cave at 60 frames per second.
Speed and orientation of the hardware-hacked Hoverboard was affected by the users' leaning forward, back, or side-to-side as they dropped into quarter pipes and carved in bowls of the virtual Lexus Slide Park.
Lexus Hoverboard 'Ride The Slide', which premiered at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Platform that manages user queue and start of experience, as well as custom video capture with realtime colour correction and editing.
